The preface to the original Dune tells the story of how Rosak’s sister became a Bene Gesserit. The incident involving Valea Harkonnen’s use of her voice was caused by the so-called “Dune Mentats.” All three books are related to the development of the Sisterhood, Mentats, Navigators, and Doctor Whores. I’ve read and watched a lot of fantasy/sdi-fi in my life, and I think I can spot a winner right away, whether it’s The Fifth Element, The Lord of the Rings, Edge of Tomorrow, The Matrix, Game of Thrones, or 12 Monkeys.

So what’s the “formula”?

I’ve seen ALL the classic films – too many to list here. They just grab you and make you want to see more! The plot and characters are engaging, there are some delightful surprises, they feel real…

and so on

I agree that some of the supporting actors aren’t that good… and that THE SWORD MASTER is unlikely to be that ridiculously new… but overall the series is still intriguing, watchable, and has a lot of excitement.

A cool production overall

The “prediction” element is amazing, and I’m seriously looking forward to what happens next.
