A modern-day tale of making a fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. A Landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, will act as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. The Landman’s job is usually to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.
Reference on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode 4424 (2022)
Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for workers (man camps), assemble the earthmoving equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part repairman, part problem solver, and part facilitator.
This is his show!
Taylor Sheridan makes her female characters very shallow even when they seem strong, so this series is no different. But the show is a winner for me because Billy Bob steals every scene; even the ones where the topless women show up! The way he describes the oil business is probably very true to how the industry works.
His female characters are extremely flawed
BB has the best lines describing the value of oil and what makes the world go round (oil). The settings are great, the rigging is actually quite enlightening. I just don’t understand how his daughter is such a twat and his wife is such a loser, but I guess that’s Sheridan’s way.
But for the great lines and the best of Billy Bob Thornton, watch this show
He’s brilliant.

Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)Written by Jay Livingston and Ray EvansPerformed by The Pixies. The preview looked like a hodgepodge of several different shows like Wayward Pines ,Lost and a little Under the Dome thrown in.
A pleasant surprise
I expected it to have a vague storyline after seeing that it's produced by the same makers as Lost but it has a solid storyline and the characters are likable. While not perfect, it does have suspense and is good enough to keep me hooked.

Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo” Remake of El Agente Topo (2020)
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home. I’m 67 and it was wonderful to see so many actors of our generation and their great comedic stylings.
These actors only get better with age and are wonderfully cast in this sweet comedy series!
The script gets a little lost trying to solve the mystery and goes deeper into the characters’ stories. That’s okay because you have a pretty good idea of who the culprit is about halfway through.
It’s really no mystery at all
You don’t care that it’s not really a mystery because you’re just having fun watching these golden oldies work and strut their stuff. Just a tribute to how brave you have to be a senior citizen and still active and feel seen in our youth-oriented society.
Thanks for giving me a great Saturday of series marathon!
What a sweet tribute to those who support us and help us navigate the minefields of aging this series was.
