KJ and Dan are struggling to communicate. A few years into a strained relationship, the couple takes a weekend trip to a friend’s cabin to recapture their romance… only to find a dying-but-not-quite-dead mouse stuck to a glue trap. They disagree about how to handle, KJ advocating for a swift death while Dan proposes making the mouse’s last moments as pleasant as possible. The couple compromises and moves on, slowly finding their way back to each other in this idyllic setting. Unfortunately, their serenity is broken by the arrival of a small woman who can be charitably described as “eccentric” – she’s their host’s younger sister and had no idea anyone was staying at the family cabin. No problem if she crashes, right? As the couple struggles to juggle this interloper on top of their already tense dynamic, KJ and Dan begin to worry this obnoxious third wheel may threaten more than their relationship…

Read MoreThis is the third attempt at a television series based on Cruel Intentions (1999)
Scenario
After a dark scene at an elite academy, sisters Caroline and Lucien decide to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel, Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), starring Amy Adams replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted television series and then remade as a feature film.
It follows Cruel Intentions (1999)
Gellar later reprised her role as Kathryn in the NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to a series in 2016. This show is actually very well written and very accurate given what college campuses are like now.
The stories are engaging
As for the underrepresentation on college campuses and how whitewashed it is, it’s because they show exactly what these elitist sororities and fraternities are really like. The sarcasm and humor is great in every character.
And I really enjoyed the character development, if they had just tried to make a carbon copy of 1999’s Cruel Intentions it would have been so unoriginal and this version does a good job of creating a completely different story
The people who are bashing it clearly wanted a true retelling of a cult classic – but this show is in no way trying to be an iconic movie, it takes inspiration from every OG character and creates a modern version of the archetypes in a college campus setting. Incredibly funny.
And the modern sissy is amazing, she’s lovingly manic
The character of Caroline is not as confused, unconventional but she’s still the iconic song that she was in the movie and she actually has her own story and that’s what I’m here for. I love it and I hope there’s a second season.
